Are you tired of buying food from the café and looking for a way to make quick meals for the week? I have just the solution for you. In today’s blog post, I will tell you the benefits of meal prepping, what to do, and what not to do.

Now, there are many benefits from preparing ingredients ahead. It saves you time, it gets you to eat healthy, it helps stimulate your mind because you achieved a goal, it also decreases food waste. A lot of food goes to waste when it stays in the fridge for too long because we get too lazy when we see them.

When it comes to meal prepping, there are things you should and should not do, and I will talk about that in salads. Say we want to have salad for lunch for the week, we want to make sure to follow these steps.

  • Get veggies to last you the whole week. You’ll need two heads of iceberg or Romaine lettuce, a bag of spinach, one onion, two tomatoes, three sticks of celery, two bell peppers, and two cucumbers. It’s a salad, play with it. If you don’t like lettuce, you can use kale or cabbage or whatever greens you like.
  • Wash your greens and veggies before you cut them because of germs and tiny insects. I would recommend using white vinegar and cold water to double rinse before using just cold water.
  • Pat them dry, so they stay fresh longer.
  • If you like tomatoes in your salads, chop them up and keep them in a separate container because tomatoes make lettuce brown and no one wants to eat that.
  • Mix all your dry veggies and store them in little containers in the fridge for easy grab and go.
  • If you’re a protein lover like me, boiled eggs or grilled poultry would go well with your salad. A full rotisserie chicken will do you good.
  • When it comes to dressings, I add suya pepper to my ranch to give it a spicy kick. I would not recommend it if you have a nut allergy, but if you’re looking to try something new, I would add a little dash of that with the chicken

Meal prepping is simple and effective if you’re really into making your own meals. These tips should help you get on track with getting a nice and refreshing lunch for the week.
